- You can protect your bid automatically with this feature by entering the
"maximum amount" you are willing to pay for an item;
- Enter only an amount you truly willing to
pay for this item.
- If another bidder enters a bid higher than the present bid
but below your Max Bid, you will still have
the highest bid on the item but the bid
amount will be raised one bid increment above this new bidder's amount.
- Example:
- Your initial bid is $50.00 with a bid increment of
$2
- Your place a "Max Bid" of $100
- Another bidder [not knowing you have a "Max bid" on this
item] places a bid of $70.
- The new bid for this item now becomes $72 [70 + 2]. You
still have the "high bid" on this item but
you will pay $72 if this is the last bid on this item.
- Therefore, be careful in using "Max Bid."
Enter only an amount you are truly willing to pay for
this item.
- This feature was abused last auction with huge "max bids"
being entered on lots to prevent others from bidding on an item with no
provision to raise initial bids. Now, the bid amount
automatically raises as bids are received on any
item.
- Also, this feature make this Auction Script as close to a
" public auction" as possible since this is what really happens during a public auction. Room bidders
do not know what "Max Bids" the auctioneer has on any item and so the item is
bid up and up until no one wants to bid higher than the "Max Bid."
- The "Max Bid"
is great feature -- Just be careful with it.

Opening
Bids are Now Estimates !!
- Opening Bid is now an
"Estimate" with Reserves
starting at 70% .
- Previous OPG Auctions were Minimum Bid Mail Sales -- this new
Auction Script allows for Reserves.
- You may now bid lower than the
Opening Bid but all Items have Reserves.
- Reserves start at 70% with 85% the most
common. The Auction Script will tell you if your bid is too low.
Of course, if a lot has received a bid, then you must bid
higher than the current bid at the next bidding increment to have your bid
accepted.
- Many bidders often use the "Max Bid
Feature" whereby they try and secure the lot at a higher price than the
bid shown if necessary. If a lot has a Max Bid, you must bid higher than this
Max Bid for the Auction Script to accept your bid. Just keep bidding higher and
higher until the Auction Script accepts your bid.
